This is an iconic image of Lucky Strike’s “20,679 Physicians Say” campaign, and due to its manipulative quackery, it has become the iconic image of Stanford University’s exhibit as well – a stellar example of the patently false and deceptive claims put forth by tobacco. We might laugh at there old advertisements today but it is still typical of the misleading information and outright lies that the Darkside (Big Tobacco) used to entice us into the deadly habit of smoking. This is just one of a large selection from a display that is being exhibited by Stanford University Medical. Click here to view the complete collection and the written material that Stanford has collected.
According to Stanford: Early in the last century, when questions about the health effects of smoking became a topic of widespread discussion, tobacco companies undertook a multi-faceted campaign to allay the public’s fears. As terms like “smoker’s cough” and “coffin nails” (referring to cigarettes) began to appear in the popular vernacular, tobacco marketers recognized the need to counter this threat to their livelihood.
One strategy was to use endorsements by healthy and vigorous appearing singers, Hollywood stars, and elite athletes. Another was to raise fears over weight gain: “Reach for a Lucky instead of a sweet.”Among the more reprehensible tactics was the utilization of the image of the noble and caring physician to sell cigarettes: Doctors were depicted both as satisfied and enthusiastic partakers of the smoking habit (“More Doctors Smoke Camels”). Images of medical men (and a few token women) appeared under soothing reassurances of the safety of smoking. Liberal use was also made of pseudo-scientific medical reports and surveys.Stanford’s intention is to tell—principally through advertising images—the story of how, between the late 1920s and the early 1950s, tobacco companies used deceptive and often patently false claims in an effort to reassure the public of the safety of their products.
As vapers, we are well aware of the negative impact of tobacco cigarettes and have chosen electronic cigarettes as we believe them to be a safer alternative to coffin nails. While younger smokers cannot claim that they were unaware of smoking’s dangers, older smokers (I am 65) fell for the lies that the Darkside fed to us.

With the ability to make your own special flavors of e-juice, the cost savings of DIY E-Juice and the potential for tax savings, I highly recommend that all vapers should consider making their own Smoke-Juice. I don’t think that it will be very long before the government greed mongers start taxing E-Juice just like the sin taxes on cancer sticks. As time passes, I will be doing a series of posts on DIY E-Juice and ultimately provide you with an e-book on the subject. In the meantime, check out the ECF forum for more information-they have some excellent DIY information.

While the previous version of the eGo Tank left much to be desired, I am very impressed with the new eGo C tank system with an inexpensive replaceable atty. While the earlier version had problems with the wick getting clogged, the new version is easily cleaned and if an atty does go bad, it is less than 5 bucks at Vapor Alley to get a replacement. I have to tell you that I enjoy having a large fluid capacity like the eGo W and the eGo C with either the type A or B tank. To me, when I am out and about, it is simply a pain to have to top off a carto and these tank systems not only make it easy, they also look good. The eGo C with the type B tank carries over 2 ml of juice and that is about enough to last me all day.
If you get one of these beauties, remember to prime the wick so that it does not burn and I have found that the juice that Vapor Alley stocks is the 75 PV 25 VG juice that I found works very well in the eGo C.

In a move that is both scary and promising, the 3rd largest US maker of traditional tobacco cigarettes, Lorillard-maker of Newports, has announced that it has purchased Blu E-Cigs, a long established and well known brand of Electronic Cigarette. The implications are both promising and scary. While “Big Tobacco” has the resources to test and prove the safety and efficacy of Electronic Cigarettes, they also have a powerful lobby in Washington which could effect legislation and FDA rules which might have a damaging effect upon smaller less established E-Cig companies. Please leave a comment on this breaking news and how you think it may affect you.

While I strongly promote Vapor Alley because of their extensive range of products and absolutely great customer service, not everyone wants all that they have to offer and that is why I am introducing the Luci Electronic Cigarette. If you are just looking for a simple and easy to use E-Cig then, Luci may be your choice. Not only is it as easy to use as lighting up a traditional cancer stick, but it has received 5 star ratings for quality construction, flavor and vapor production from virtually every electronic cigarette review website. Not only that but, it has a life-time warranty on the atomizer-the most common failure point on any E-Cig.
With the Luci you just keep the battery charged and replace the juice cartridges when necessary and all that you need to do is take a drag on it just like a regular cigarette but without the tar and carcinogens that you get with a cancer stick. If you are looking for ease of use in a high quality electronic cigarette, consider the Luci E-Cig.
Please note that I am an affiliate of Luci and may receive a commission if you purchase through my links. -

Hi Stan, here from http://HowToE-Cig.com and I am doing a new review of the eGo W Clearomizer because after a week of use, the flavor has actually gotten better. After a week of use, I usually throw out a cartomizer but the eGo W actually improves with age and I am now getting great flavor and vapor. I looks like this eGo W unit is going to last quite some time and it just seems to get better and better. Please note that I am an affiliate of Vapor Alley which is where I got my eGo W and should you purchase through my link, I may receive a commission

Hi Stan here from http://HowToE-Cig.com with a review of the CE3 XL Clearomizer Wow, this is my new favorite e-cig accessory. Although this carto is available in low res 2 ohms, the one I tested was 3 ohms and still put out a ton of full flavor vapor. It comes in a 5 pack which is currently (March 2012) on sale under $10 dollars at Vapor Alley. Stop by my site for a direct link. One of the things that I really like is that you don’t have any wasted juice like you get with a standard cartomizer and it holds enough juice that even a heavy vaper will be happy.
Financial Disclosure: I am an affiliate of Vapor Alley and may receive a commission should you choose to purchase through my links. -

Stan here from http://HowToE-Cig.com and I wanted to show you my latest little toy-the eGo W Clearomizer. I find this to be very convenient when I am away from home. At home, I use the low res dual coil carto but I find that I need to top it off way too often to keep from scorching the carto filler. The eGo W has a large fluid reservoir so I can vape for a long time without refilling which is great when I am away from home. One thing I did not mention in the video is that you will need to get either a blunt tip 20 guage needle or a needle-tip top for your juice bottle to fill the clearomizer. As usual, I get the eGo W from Rick’s Vapor Alley.
